Rumble in the Hills

I'm gonna be shaking things up in the Raleigh-Durham area. I'm moving from Abilene, TX to Cary, NC this weekend. Judging from the large number of threads in this forum I'm sure things will liven up after I get settled in. My car ain't much now but with the newer engine and hopefully a good job it'll be roaring instead of just purring.

I don't need a truck. I have a hitch.

I think it's awesome that I'm moving to where Nascar was born! I'm looking forward to checking out the auto shops around there and the junkyards too. I'm hoping that I'll also get some help when I do the j-mod and maybe even with the paint job. First though, I need a job.

What kind of Auto shops?

There's a pick-a-part down the road from me, 15-30 minutes from you depending on where in Cary.

J-mod, definately RobertP, Sophosis for paint.

Red face

I got here about 2 weeks ago but it's taking me awhile to settle in. I'm still getting lost on a daily basis. If you see my cougar it is green with faded paint thanks to what I assume was an altercation between the last owner's daughter and an enemy. Other than that you may notice the dark back windows but the front windows look a little more yellowish thanks to the solar crap I wasn't expecting in the tint.

When it comes to shops the main ones I'm looking for is a paint shop and a shop that'll do work I cannot do in the parking lot of my apartment. My dream is to find a shop where you can do the work yourself but I haven't found those except for on military bases and I'm not in the military anymore. Hell, I didn't find an Advance auto parts until a few days ago to finally get my codes read. Now I need to find a junk yard to find a MAF and a DPFE sensor. After I find a job the next 'mod' I'm gonna do is replace the resonator with a strait pipe so I guess I'll need a good muffler shop. Then again I do need to have my tint redone and I'm hoping thre's a shop that can do it as dark as I want it.

Are RobertP and Sophosis shops or TCCOA forum members? And what is a LKQ? I'm assuming it's a either a parts store or a junk yard.

RobertP and Sophosis are board members. Roberts got a shop, but it's about an hour and a half or so from us, Sophosis is a paint person.

LKQ is a junk yard, the one by me is a pick-a-part. http://www.lkqcorp.com/location/sites.asp?L=21

After only just 2 weeks I did get a job! I'm working at Tropical Fish World in Raleigh which is similar to the place I worked at in Tx. I'm very good with fish and people so if you have any questions or concerns please stop by. Now I can actually make plans on fixing my car.

My girlfriend has dug out her digital camera so I now have pics of my car.

Here she is.

Now I can finally show off the foglights I installed.

I don't think having a hitch looks too bad. When I get a body kit I plan on cutting out a hole and making some sort of cover maybe with a brake light.

I wonder if anyone uses these because I think they save lives and not only my own.

Their mirrors in general? About as often as they use turn signals. Not very often.

Ah, I'll be searching for those better mirrors then!

I live at Hyde Park which is more hidden than Hidden Oaks. Yeah, we could meet but my cougar isn't much to look at yet.
