Lets: move this to General Tech since it's not an engine issue

did this happen out of the blue, or were you tinkering with some wiring? I do know for a fact that there is a turn-on wire that if not connected to switched 12V power, the alternator won't do squat

My wife was driving it home from work last night and it more or less died in the middle of the street.

Wiring has been done in the past but that was two or three years ago.

By mega fuse do you mean the 15 amp "generator" fuse under the hood?

No, we mean the mega fuse.

It's that big honker (125A?) that's on the front of the fuse box by the battery.

I had this same no charging problem a couple months ago. It wound up being a 15 amp fuse under the hood labeled "generator".

I looked inside my underhood fuse box and don't see any 15amp fuses labeled "generator" Is the fuse in the box?

EDIT On my car fuse number 11 is labeled Radio. Now I get it...

EDIT II, I checked/replaced fuse 11 and it's still not charging.

I had to go and check just now, but yes, the fuse I was talkiing about is 11 in the high current box under the hood. Sucks that isnt the problem, hell I would of bet 5 bucks it was.

It won't charge if the dash circuit is in tact and working. When you are in Key on/Engine off, does the battery light illuminate in the upper left pod of the IP? I think that there is a resistor that is in parallel with the light, so there might be an issue there.

I drove my 89 without the IP for a year or so, I soldered a resistor in place of the IP so that it would charge (actually I think it was a light bulb and resistor, I can't find it now).
