need underhood 12v switched wire

Like the title says, I need to know what wire to splice into underhood that is a 12v power but only comes on when the engine is started. It is for my electric water pump. Any help is appreciated.

The circuit that feeds the injectors, iac and egr regulator is 12V ignition.

I'd run a fused wire/relay to the battery for an electric water pump.

I am sure he is looking for a wire to power the coil in the relay. For the switched power, he should definitely have it hooked up to one of the main 12v sources under the hood (battery +, the 175a fuse, alternator + terminal) with a fuse. The amperage draw is very small from the relay coil. I think Matt hit it on the nose as far as a switched 12v source to tap into for the relay coil.

Thanks everyone. I used the ignition coil hot wire and I am running it off of a relay.

I also have an led rigged up in the dash to let me know if it stops getting power for some reason. It is a good thing I had it too, since the fuse blew (wrong size) while the car was running. I wouldn't have known it wasn't running otherwise.

Nonsense...I'm sure you would have found out that it wasn't running before long.
