compressor differences

i just bougth a a/c compressor from ebay and i just want to know if maybe i pick the wrong kind for my car or is the same for 3.8 and 4.6 engines?? any help is welcome thanks!!

The 3.8 and 4.6 compressors are identical internally and externally with one exception.

The bolt patterns are different. One has three, the other has four (can't remember which has which at the moment).

The 3.8 compressor has the inlet/outlets on the back vs. the 4.6s on the top(where the fourth mounting flange is on the 3.8)

No it was for 3.8 but the seller was so kind to cancel the order but anyway thanks a lot i learn a different thing about my car everyday thanks to you guys!!!
