Outside temp button gives wrong temp

I didnt know where this should go but the problem is when I press my outside temp button it keeps tellings me its 77 degrees a lot and sometimes it goes to 78 or 79 maybe even 80. Its most 77 though. Its really hot out here so no way is it 77 degrees. Can someone tell me if they have had a similar problem. THings seem to work fine otherwise just this little thing is annoying and Ill like to hear of anyone else had their outside temp button malfunction.

Ambient temperature sensor under the hood latch is bad or the head unit is bad.

Clean up the contacts in the connector, it can get pretty nasty up there.
