replace cooling fan motor or whole assembly?

I managed to cook another cooling fan today. No flames but a lot of smoke. I was able to limp the car home the last few miles with the heater cranked. I had the same thing happen on my last Thunderbird.

I see that I can get a complete fan assembly for only $15 more than the motor. Is there any advantage to getting the whole unit, other than my time? This is the kind of part I don't want to fail again and again.

Would you happen to have that piggyback cable for the mustang fan? I need one for my 03 cobra fan.

I just got done testing out the fan. Seems to work good. The old one was totally seized lol. Thanks again for hooking me up. I really appreciate it.

No problem buddy, if it gives you any trouble in the immediate future give me a call and I'll exchange it. It was a pleasure doing business, and it was nice to meet another local tbird enthusiast.
