Where is the Integrated Control Module?

On a 96-97 Cougar?

Maybe I'm getting confused but the EVTM makes references to the ICM, but I can't find it anywhere in the index or on my car.

There is the CCRM in front of the airbox, but based on pinouts I don't think this is the same device.

Is the ICM located in the dash near the fusebox? A black box with 6 or so plugs in the back of it?

Rest In Peace Mom.

It's clipped into the primary junction block(interior fusebox), it looks like it's one piece with it.

Is there a picture of it floating around somewhere?

Does this mean that I don't need the CCRM, but instead could use regular relays for the purpose of fuel pump and such?

Uhh I'm having trouble figuring out how you're making a connection between the integrated control module and the CCRM. The ICM controls the warning chime, interior lights ect. It's unrelated to anything engine controls.

It is possible to use relays in place of the CCRM though.

Ok looking at the pinouts and such it looks like I don't need the ICM at all to run the engine, and the CCRM is only "needed" for the fuel pump, which could be replaced by a simple relay?

Rest In Peace Mom.

Ayep.

I'd go for the simple relay.

I found a new 30A relay with pigtail at a "local" ABC Auto Parts on Saturday for $9.99 ... and it's actually pricey at that!

My confusion between CCRM and ICM came from reading threads posted here where people kept saying that the CCRM is also sometimes called the ICM.

I was just simply trying to figure out if I needed them or not.
Clearly I dont

I have the CCRM so may as well use it if needed for fuel pump and stuff.

Otherwise thanks guys.

Rest In Peace Mom.

The CCRM also controls the high/low speed fan operation in conjuction with the PCM as well as the A/C system. I can go into more detail if you need but I was wondering exactly what are you trying to do here?

The CCRM can also be referred to as an IRCM as in integrated relay control module. I could see how it could be mixed up.

Frankencougie: I'm building an engine stand to hold my 4.6 and tranny.

The main goal for the project is to have the engine and trans running on the stand.

Ive just been reading and trying to figure out what's going where and what's needed to make that work.

This thread was a result of thinking I needed the ICM, I don't.

Ive got all the wires for the PCM, C161, C205, and C210 labelled and pretty well figured out for the most part.

I think the only place I'm stuck now is figuring out how to wire the CCRM from the PCM to the fans and fuel pump.

Other than that this thread has served it's purpose and I have a thread in the 4.6 forum about this project.

Rest In Peace Mom.
