Interchanging of parts question

New year, New question that may need answering.

What are some of the parts that only work on a specific year range. one example could be you cannot use a 1996 or newer 4.6L intake on a 1995 without hood modification.

Only when I put the crown Vic plenum on I had to make a dimple in the hood brace so my throttle body wouldn't get stuck wide open

I'm not aware of this issue and made no changes to my hood but I don't have a hoodliner ever since the original one was tore up by shredded belts and soaked with brown coolant.

4R70W transmissions up to 2002 can be used by repinning the connector and replacing the manual lever on the side.
The speedo gear on the tranny will need to be changed to correct the speedo. (7-tooth vs 8-tooth output shaft.)

Gran Marquis transmissions are likely to be the least abused.

Newer transmissions than 2003 can't be used without substantial modification.
2003 is a crapshoot; it might have the teeth we need on the output shaft, maybe not.
Looking first is required on a 2003.

All swap-able JY transmissions will need the seals replaced at this point in years, most likely; Especially the shaft seals and clutch seals.

Find out who does the police cars in your area, and get that shop to do your work.
They will have the most experience, and aren't usually the most expensive place in town, but do quality work.
