This car came with a ac issue I was told so I see this line loose where im pointing think it's the charge line not sure if it has a seal behind it but it had two nuts top one is loose and line wiggles
It goes down to a condenser I believe ?

Anyone know what I need to replace it ? The first photo that top line is loose and a bit rusted down at the curve before a canister in the last photo I wanna fix it And try and pull a vacuum and charge system

I pretty much need that whole line new in the 4th photo can't seem to find it on rock auto

Items you'll need

1) Condensor to Evaporator line (because that's where the orifice tube is, and the kit to let you just replace it is almost as much as the whole dang line!)

2) Accumulator with hose (don't buy the one without the hose, it doesn't fit or work.)

3) Compressor to condensor line (the one you're pointing at).

4) Appropriate PAG or Ester oil (if converting to R134) or mineral oil (if you're filthy rich or can swap cocaine in 100 pound lots for 12oz cans of R12 ... Just kidding. It'd take more than 100 pounds of pure nose sugar to buy a can of R12, I think.)

5) Seals for all points. Remove the clamp onto the compressor, and replace the seals on it.

6) Flush to flush out the condensor and evaporator coils.

7) At least four languages to curse in, so you can fit the proper language to the situation.

8) R134a or R12 to charge.

9) A good vacuum pump.

10) A good set of gauges.

Enjoy! I've been through it; be SURE to verify the spring clamps BEFORE you try charging it up and using it. I didn't, turns out my first condensor-to-evaporator hose didn't have one. Oops.

Oh, I almost forgot - a set of the tools to release the current spring clamps.

You may want to replace that compressor; it's actually not that much money at the level you'll be working at, RockAuto has the Four Seasons TSN0524 for about $120 more than just the two hoses (accumulator and condensor to evaporator) included; that's not a bad price for a brand new non-reman'ed compressor.

Also, because of the unique condenser, 97s also have a unique compressor to condenser high pressure line. This cannot be flushed due to the muffler in-line and they also cannot be purchased new. You'll need to either find a known good unit from a car with good a/c, or swap out that line along with the condenser and liquid line for the 96 style.


Can you possibly link me to what I need . I'm wondering what a shop will charge me for parts if I just walk in and say nothing works fix it if they even do it thoroughly to the extent of changing what you told me VS what I could just buy and do myself . But I'm not even sure where to find these parts based of correct terminology searching

At least a 97 has r134a.

When you're asking a question and your name refers to a car, you need to specify if you're working on a different car.

The 97 is different and it all goes, and gets replaced by the 96 version, iirc.

What Grog said; I was talking about my 1991, since your name says 1991 and you didn't specify it was a 1997.

But yes. Check on the appropriate parts for a 1996, and swap it all.
