Air Bag Light

On a day with relatively high humidity, when I start my 95 LX the air bag goes on and does not shut down after the diagnostic period. It will come on and flash a few times as long as the car is running. If I let it run for a few seconds, then turn it off and re-start the engine, the air bag alert will usually act normal and go off after the diagnostic period. Sometimes it is stubborn and will require me to go through the re-start routine several times before it shuts off after the diagnostic period. After that I'm usually good for the rest of the day, no matter how many times I shut it off and re-start the engine.
I have squalked it to the local shop when I had the car in for other maintenance and basically got the 'to hard to do' answer.
So where do I start on fixing the problem. It acts like a corroded connection to me.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My SC the airbag light glows around half dim about 1 out of 30 times I start the car and stays that way until its restarted. I'm also curious if there is a connection to check

The series of flashes separated by short and long pauses indicates a diagnostic trouble code. For example: flash flash (one-second pause) flash (three-second pause) would indicate trouble code 21. Ford 1995 Thunderbird, Cougar-XR7 Service Manual contains the test procedure for each trouble code. What trouble code is it giving you?

OK. Thanks. I didn't realize that the light was flashing code at me. It looks like I have a 34.
Having lousy shops and lazy mechanics in the local area is forcing me to become a much better 'amateur' mechanic.
My manual says that it is probably in the sliding connector. I've never gone into an air bag system before. Should I take this one to someone that knows what they are doing, or is this something that I can bumble through myself?

Well that's the $64,000 question. Lots of warnings with air bag systems. Not just that you blow something up but that the system works when you're done. On a DIY job you may end up replacing the clockspring and then the driver side air bag module and the trouble code persists? When I had air bag system problems (different vehicle) I brought it to the dealer. Up to you if you want to try it yourself, heed all safety warnings. Good luck with it.
