The Bad Bird is under the Knife!!!

Well after 100,000 mile on the OEM parts I am getting alllot of the Maint stuff done I hate spending money on!!! SInce they are going to drop the cradle to put he manifolds back on might as well replace all the stuff associated with it,

New Shock/Struts
A-arms
The cracked header syndrone(Will melt the jbas down and send them to JBA
Brake Job, Original rear shoes replaced
Front end alignment Never had one done
New Drive Belt
Tranny flush
Radiator Leak-Just popped up.

I know allot of this can be done in the garage but with two bum Elbows and neck makes it hard to turn a wrench.

I think we should start a class action suit against JBA for pain and suffering

I guess its not all bad I did manage to pick up a Zex kit for 200 bucks a small shot will help ease the pain

Hey blake go over to blue oval news and take a look at the 3 valve 2005 mustang gt motor and take a look at the exhaust manifold. It is cast iron but it is like a header. Each runner has its own runner to a collector. It would be great if they could be used on a bird with header flow but with out the problems. I am doing some 100000 mataince also. I just purchaced new upper controol arms. In a couple of weeks I will get new lower controol arms and tierod ends, strut rod bushings. I am going to replace my stock overdrive servo with the upgraded one and flush the trany.

Please don't do that... they will probably use the metal to make more headers to sell to some other unsuspecting soul...

Egads, man $1000 on maintanence after only seven years????... maybe you oughtta melt the car down and send it back to Ford

I can relate, though.. I no sooner started sinking money into modding the '96 when little (and not so little) things started to break, or need replacement on both the '96 and '95.. While Scott is "playing" with GB, up in Atlanta... I'm driving around town with a very noisy power steering pump... guess I better give Dan a call..

I really am glad to hear you're taking care of that "regular" stuff... I mean I may end up in your class next year at SSHS 4 and I'll feel a lot safer driving along beside you at 115 mph...

You might want to look into a 03 cobra radiator, this would be the time to get one before the price goes through the roof.

Have you checked the new FRPP catalogue... they are listed in there, now.. I didn't check the price, but someone told me that they already raised them from what I paid..

That is a real sweet upgrade, though if the price is still low... gotta get the shroud/fan unit, too...

I have a noisy PS pump too. Though I do not mind it too much as it sounds like Tim,s blower at idle!. It is on the replacement list of parts for when the other engine is installed. Will still have the same noise because it will actually have the a blower on it then!

BAd Bird is back on the road. Man I didn't ralize how rough the ride was. Feels pretty good on the way home. Still have to get the ART exhaust tweaked to mate up to the manifold on the passanger side. Its got a small leak at the flange. I guess when I had the x pipe welded the jba hit at a slightly differnet angle. They ended up putting a bung on the drivers side manifold for the egr using some type of lime solution to cure it after is was welded into the cast manifold. The place that did it does a bunch of NHRA stuff and probably the best metal man in town, als.o found out my ps pump has a leak and one of my tranny cooler lines is ready to blow.

So heres a run down

New Belt installed (If you ever tried to put a belt on my car no small task extrmely tight

New front Brakes

moog A-arms

Header swap

shock/struts

4- wheel alignment

A bunch of misc stuff

Went with the Tockico blues compromise between the Bilstiens and the KYBs. I ported a set of manifolds I got from DanU in Dallas. It will probably kill my 60fts with new struts on the front. Stuff wears out at 100,000 miles. The rear-end is whing so Iam sure the pour Auburn I put in 6 years ago will need to be replaced along with the gears. It has been heavly abused.

And she will rise from the ashes.. reborn... renewed in strength...

I am beefing up my suspension, too.. bigger bars, stiffer springs.. It'll kill my launch, but I'm looking down the road, and when I add power, I want to be able to keep her on the road headed in the right direction... I also love to take corners at speed and run those banked off ramps to the "S" turns...

Got the exhaust leak fixed today the mufler man had to tweak it. Its amazing how quiet the cari s without the header leak, I guess you get used to it between the suspension stuff and the leak fixed its like driving a brand new car. The shop asked me if I wanted the headers back I told him to pitch them in the trash. The passanger side was destroyed it actually was forming a big hole from the stress fracture.
