Where do I stick this code reader?

Buddy's T-bird is running crappy, and displaying a "check engine" light. I have a Ford EEC code reader, but cant find the hookup. On my Town Car, its on the wheel well, right inside the engine compartment, but I looked everywhere I could think of on this car (a '94) and cant find it.

Any help appreciated,
-Jason

Yes the 7.2L is a joke, at least now. But in the late '70's, thats what this car had in it. However, they were still slow, because they weighed about as much as the U.S.S. Missouri.
As for the NOS, you'll have to excuse me, I am from Kentucky. We are very generic here, every cola is a Coke, every adhesive bandage is a Band-Aid, every facial tissue is a Kleenex, and every NO2 system is NOS. For the record, when it does come time to really kick out the jams, I intend to go with a ZEX system, mainly for ease of installation.

Ummm, first four? I count six before NOS, unless you also hate Politics and Automatic Weapons, which seems unlikely, seeing as how they both clearly rule.

Now does anyone know where the code reader hookups are?

-Jason

This is not mine. This is ANOTHER TC Type-R, if you can believe that.

If your friends tbird is a v8 your code reader wont work because he has obd-2 and you don't. But just so you know, his scanning port hookup thing is by the glove compartment, under it actually.

What is Type R doing on a Towncar? Very confused. Just what does this mean? There is a smaller import parked inside of it?

She eats ricers for breakfast, so there are LOTS of imports inside her.

NRL: it shouldn't be an OBD-2 its a '94.

yeah, '94-'95 v8s got the eec-v and obd2, the 3.8s (n/a and sc) had eec-iv and obd 1 methinks? In '96+, all engine types got the eec-v and obd2, i think it was required by law, actually.

Yeah it's a 4.6 in the 94 all 4.6's have always been OBD-II.

Your car makes me loose sleep at night. I can't stand IMPORTS with an R badge...let alone a TOWN CAR? I would never make fun of your car if you didn't have that. I like those cars and think that they are very luxurious, but you have ruined it.

For real though, you make domestic car owners look like a bunch of wanna be ricers! Do you watch Fast and The Furious and get all excited to drive YOUR car? I dunno man, there is probably few cars that are as luxurious as a Town Car...but they are not and will never be race cars. We have enough trouble trying to get our MN12's to handle awesome...your starting with the worlds biggest handicap. Please just buy an Integra.

It's N2O...NOT N02. Maybe you should stay away from cars from now on.

I have officially seen everything,

Well, then next time you see blue light in your rear view, dont worry just hit the gas. Cop cars "are not and will never be race cars." My Town Car is the same vehicle, plus about 2 grand in suspension and performance mods that the cops wish they had. Why a mod a Town Car? Hell, why mod a T-Bird? I mean c'mon couldn't you afford a Mustang?
I own a Town Car for safety reasons; I like having lots of steel around me. I am modding the Town Car because I can. The "Town Car Type-R" screenname is a goof on all those kids with the Type-R stickers on cars that didn't offer a Type-R model, but apparently you can't see the humor in it.
As for my "staying away from cars from now on," why don't you put your 150hp 5.0 T-bird next to my 230 hp Town Car, and we'll see who needs to go back to school. Becasue this old girl ("Town Cars are not and will never be race cars") comes in about 3 seconds behind the Porsche Boxters on 60-second Autocross runs. And every single solitary thing that has been done to this car (with the exception of the torque converter, which I had done when the new tranny was installed), I've done myself.

I only have 192 hp; let me know when you head to the track and we'll line up so I can watch your Town Car smoke me.

I do like your car, it looks nice.

5.0 Power

FYI, the 5.0 HO's (In the Mustangs, Mark VII's, and T-Birds/Cougars were rated at 205HP. The normal 5.0's (Found in Crown Vics, Grand Marquis, etc.) Were the ones rated at 150HP. And I like that 150HP, thank you very much.

It lives in my 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park Staton Wagon. Maroon w/ Fake Wood baby!

I am still confused at how mufflers gave you 230 HP from your 150 stock motor.

Ohh well...I was just posting that stuff cause I was confused, not because I wanted to start a fight. Now that you tell me that the Type R stuff is a joke...i think it's funny. Posting the picture and talking trash made me think that you were serious.

Eitherway...if the cops are envious (?) that doesn't mean that I am. My car didn't start with the 150 hp that yours does, we have the HO version of the 5.0L that is nearly identical (the front accessories are different) to the SN95 mustang 5.0L.

Are you running your car in Solo II? If so, that's cool. I am getting into running my car in those autocrosses too. If your actually taking the car out and running it, I'll give ya some credit there, its fun stuff.

I would just feel sorta silly rolling up in a Town Car amongst all the C5's, the S2000's, the Viper GTS, 03' Cobra, C4's, M3's, Porsches, Miata's, F-bodies, and other serious auto cross cars that we have that come to our Solo II events.

To each his own, to each his own.

-danimal

Ohhh, by the way, check out my webpage...I've done all of the work to my car myself too at my shop.

Yeah and it will eat you too if you don't back up off me!

And for the record Thunderbirds cost more than Mustangs factory, and still are booked higher in this area than the same year Mustang.

"That's Right!"

<---Shouting an Amen to Shads

Yeah, so I go to the Corral and those guys rag on me for driving a big heavy car....but I can beat a good number of them at the track. Then I am searching our TBird forum and this Town Car guy comes on and starts talking how his Town Car is the end all road/race car.

<----stops laughing for a second

Look, I hope you can see where people are coming from when they snicker after you tell them your Town Car is competing with a Porsche. I mean, I am not disputing the fact that it has great times and handles like a rail car. Heck, you could be beating the times a Porsche puts down and I would STILL laugh. Why? It's a TOWN CAR. That in it's self is humorous.

For instance:

Get a quarter mile race in your head and then say Mustang, then say Thunderbird
then say Town Car!

<----stops laughing again

I am not ragging on you or trying to put your car down. It looks real good and according to what you say it's a great road/race car and that's great. I am glad you are taking what you have and fixing it up to be a mean machine. On the other hand, please do not take offence when people laugh or question you when you brag on your Town Car because it will happen. Ask any TBird guy who hangs out at the Corral or any Camaro guy who hangs out on the Vette forums.

Keep up the good work on that Town Car!
