Question Shifters

Has anyone installed an aftermarket shifter in a tbird? I bought a mustang hammer and it wont fit without serious mods to shifter mounting plate.
I dont want to hack up my console but will if its the only option.
I am gonna call B&M tomorrow and ask them if they had considered making one for our cars.
any ideas, pics, anyone.....
Any input is appreciated,
Mike

Angry thanks guys

got a lot of help, NOT
i did figure out what i'm gonna do.
B&M hammer shifter universal style
use factory shifter mounting cup, modified bt lowering floor 1/2" and opening up front to line up shifter with console opening.
DONT BUY THE MUSTANG HAMMER IT WONT FIT AT ALL, found that out the hard way, luckily local speed shop traded universal mount one for it.
I'll post pics of modifications needed to be made to do conversion.

Laterz,
Mike
PS i wasn't mad, just expected some input, even if it was f*#k idon't know man

well...I'll give ya the I don't know cause I have no clue....I wanted to change mine, but I like the hammer shape(don't like carbon fiber or burlwood)...I just thought I would suffer...If it is pretty easy to do, I'll do it...Please post on what you had to do...I'll try it...

Smile Here is what I know...

If you have a '94-'96 T-Bird and you need a new shifter lever for some reason, do not get a '97 OEM. Find a '94 or '95 OEM handle new or from a boneyard, but do not get the superceded '97 part number. It just doesn't work right on the older cars, trust me.

I just ran into this problem. That's all I have to offer, sorry.

Lightbulb

Or you could make your own.
My shifter is now a polished 125cc dirt-bike piston.
Food for thought.
