Question Reinhart Chip - OK On Stock Tranny?

hey guys,

I have finally saved up a little money and want to get something for my Birdie. I only have about $300 and a chip seemed like a good idea. My 95 Bird is stock except for a removed air silencer. I was wondering if one of "the" chips from Reinhart Automotive would be ok for my tranny or what? It seems like the firmed shifts would actually wear out the transmission. I'm probably way off target, but I just want to clarify so I dont feel so dumb. I'm just tryin to learn. Also, would I need anything beyond the 180 degree T-stat to make it work? How much firmer are the shifts after the chip is in? Can it actually make the tires chirp? I know that has a lot to do with tire type and such, but in general....

One last thing, about what would a Bird run after a chip put in?

Thanks a ton guys,

Jon w.

yea the chip in a stock car/tranny would be fine, it will actually help it a little. the firmer shifts are done correctly to increase tranny life, what you really need to do is get the parts for the jmodded tranny. but you can do that in the future when you get the money and time. as far as the shifts go, its much firmer and i can chirp the tires. but after doing the jmod trans i found the newer updated pistons and springs in the trans so that might have helped a little too. but you should be 100% fine with it. you will need colder plugs

Motorcraft AWSFA22C's are recommended.
