info center optnion, and autolamp option question.

couple questions.

My 95 does not have the info center option, it has the sunglass box option.

It does not have the autolamps either.

Here is the question.

The other day, I was pulling out the sunglass box to install some switches, and noticed a connector behind the sunglass box.

I assume that this is for the info center that I didn't get.

Can i just get an info center, and plug it in, or is there more involved? I mean the connector is sitting right there underneath the sunglass box.

Now for the autolamps, I have the autolamp sensor on my dashboard passanger side. Could I just swap the autolamp headlight switch from an equipped car to get mine to work?

Is adding options really this easy or no?

its possible.. i dont know about the traction assist but the low coolant/gas/washer lights may work for you. the auto lamp may take more wire work, maybe. its a sensor that is by the trans hump that you have to hook up, and you need the auto-relay switch by the light switch. i can go to the junk yard and pick you up a info center. i saw one the last time i went on a 95. let me know.

In my experience, ford does not wire for things not used, so you might need to buy some sensors for the info center to work, and definately have to buy the light sensor for the auto lamp function. However, there should be a harness clip for the sensors.

The plug you found behind the sunglass box, is it a 2 prong plug?? If it is, then from what I can tell, it's nothing more than like a back light plug----it only has power when the lights are turned on. What guages do you have in the instrument cluster---the Speed/Tach/Fuel-Temp set or the neater set with Speed/Tach/Oil/Voltmeter/Fuel/and Temp??? If you have the first set, then you don't need the info center....which to me, is nothing more than idiot lights. If you have the first set I listed, then you already have the "idiot" lights on the dash, so why have 2 sets??? If you have the "neater" set, then I'd say it would be something to consider doing, or if you're converting over. I'd imagine you'd have to get the info center and the harness, which would plug into the main harness somewhere around there.........but I can't say for'lll have to look and see.

As for the Auto Lamp....pull the top plate that has the senso lense in it's just held in with clips. After removing the panel, you'll know if you actually have the sensor because you'll have to unplug the wires before you can completely remove the panel. If you don't have to unplug anything...then you'll have to get the sensor. You'll also need to get the auto lamp switch and the RELAY for it also, then figure out where it all plugs in at. The switch should just swap out, but I don't know for sure where the relay and harness is at.

Good luck with it. Oh, don't forget to let me know if you guys get something going in your area in the way of a meet.............I'll do what I can to make it since you came to Ohio twice!!!!
