question on stock air box on '97 4.6L XR7 - TCCoA Forums

question on stock air box on '97 4.6L XR7

i just noticed that there is a plug/harness going into the stock airbox.....it has like a folded red wire coated with some black stuff.......what is this and what does it do? it is on the side of the air box where the filtered air is flowing after the filter

It's a Thermister (temperature sensor) to determine the temperature of the incoming air.
