Exclamation '95 T-Bird Electric Fan Issue

I have a 1995 Ford Thunderbird Lx.
It has the 4.6L V8.

Just last year my husband replaced the fan in the car due to the old one seizing up.
The fan is barely a year old and seems to be moving freely.

The car was fine a day ago then all of a sudden last night the fan seems to be not getting told to kick on when the car starts to get warm. When the battery gauge fluctuates like the fans going to kick on, the fan doesn't respond and in turn just makes my car try to stall out.

I checked the fuses on the car and they all seem to be just fine.
I'm not sure what could of made it do this so suddenly.
Any help would be much appreciated. -Thanks

Sounds to me like the new fan motor is burnt out and shorting to ground, causing a large amperage draw on the alternator, thus possibly putting a drag on the engine.

Verify that the fan motor is working on it's own by powering up the ground and one of the "on" positive wires. The fan blades can spin freely, but the windings in the stator-part of the motor could be fried. Powering up the motor on it's own out of the car is one way to verify this.

You also need to verify the power to the fan coming out of the IRCM (where the fan draws it's power).

A quick search will tell you which colors to look for, as I don't remember off the top of my head. If you're not sure how to do this, take it to someone who does know how to do electrical diagnosis.

Well actually earlier today after we washed the car, i went to move it and turned the a/c on and the fan kicked on just fine. It seems to me that the only time the fan isn't kicking on now is when the a/c isn't on.
The fan works fine. It just seems to be a communication error under there somewhere. Thank you for the help though!

There's only so many things that could be going on when the E-Fan doesn't kick on when it's supposed to..

If the fan is coming on with the AC..I would think the relay would be alright..

I would check your Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor..When they go bad they exhibit characteristics like your describing..

It's located right on top of the Intake..
