any ideas?

95 xr7 4.6 runs fine, doggy off line, no codes, avg 20mpg. unplug maf, runs perfect, spins tires off the line, code p0102, (maf), avg 22 mpg + ck eng light on, and every once in a while it will stumble on soft take off ? ideas?
95 4.6 100% stock ( 4 now)

I think you answered your own question. Replace the MAF sensor.

Sounds like a MAF (or wiring) problem http://www.obd-codes.com/p0102

Have you cleaned the MAF lately? Otherwise you should start looking for a replacement.
