Vaping liquid is Propylene Glycol based, and it has a completely different heat absorption characteristic.
That's one of the things that makes the smoke hang in the air; it's the same shit as commercial smoke machines, lol.
The methanol, on the other hand, is mostly acting as a surfactant and dispersant for the water; other alcohols are less efficient, or even more toxic.
Water injection kinda died out because 'Just Water' tends to glob up, and this can be really bad if a glob is bigger than the chamber.
Methanol has a low vapor pressure, and leaves tiny droplets of water behind as it evaporates; the mix kinda 'explodes' as it hits vacuum in the inlet.
Water expands 1600 times its volume from 0°C to 100°C, and the pressure rises fairly linearly from there; that's a lot of heat being soaked up and turned into pressure. And carried out the exhaust.
Add to that the extra heat and pressure the blower provides, and this water/meth mix makes for a nice power adder by itself.
And I bet the inside of the cylinders are clean as a fresh engine, lol.
There's really not enough heat in a daily driver to get much benefit from this, I wouldn't think*; but with blower compression, it would be a major factor.
*having said this, I'm going to have to look into it; I do long drives on a dd basis, and this is going to be a hot summer.
