Just to be clear, the DOHC is about an inch taller than that pic, and you raised that another ~1/2"-3/4" or so? wow, we are tight.

My EGR has been totally plugged for years. When there are no other issues the car runs well. But to be honest I never use regular gas, always plus or super.
Try plugs and other easy / cheap fixes first. You really cant diagnose more complicated issues if the basic stuff isnt right...

ok Im going to look into some motorcraft plugs and wires next. Ive already did fuel filter, air filter, pcv valve, checked for vacumm leaks and changed bad lines. I really only feel the motor running rough on light acceleration with the rpms low.
