transmission

Well my transmission went out on me a little while ago ... upset me greatly... but now I got enough money to have it fixed.. I know little about cars so it's a job that will be done by a professional but I was just wondering what I should look for. Is that any transmission that is better then the rest. I want something that will last. As I said before I know little about cars so maybe only one transmission will work.. not sure how that goes... please help!.. thanks

well, if they're gonna rebuild it, you should be fine..but if they replace it...do NOT get a 94 model... preferrably 96+

Dennis reinhart can rebuild it to the specs in J's thesis, which would be practically bullet proof behind a stock motor.

I heard that Dennis doesn't actually do any work to the transmissions, he simply buys them from another shop that does all the customer work for him, then resells them at a higher price.

I've heard this from a few people, and also heard the name of the person who knows (About) the shop that does the work for them, and that he can get you in touch with them to buy direct. I am not going to mention his name, because I haven't checked with him to see if he wants that kind of 'publicity'.

I'll drop him a PM with this thread (in case he doesn't catch it), so if he wants to say anything, he can.
