New plugs for the 4.6L 'birds

I went to The Parts House to get some plugs for my car and the computers showed that Ford superceeded the copper plugs with AGSF-32FM platinums. Just thought I would tell everyone that this is the new recommended plug for our cars incase no one else noticed. They are expensive devils too, coppers from the parts house are 1.50 a pop, these ran 3.55 each. They are platinums though, and thats still pretty cheap (saving myself from dealer markup)

I would have them installed already but the Ford dealership local to me where I bought the wires gave me a set for a 3.8L Taurus instead of a 4.6L Thunderbird... and I didnt realize it until I was opening the box to look at them much later.

Wrong. Sorry. The only reason they recommend them is because they cost more. You won't have to change them as often, but they won't give you as good of a spark as copper plugs.

Just think you coulda had 50%+ off and better performance with copper plugs.

Question

I think Ford superceded the old AWSF-32PP Platinum plugs with this new Platinum plug(AGSF 32FM), not the copper ones.
...at least that's what the guy at the local dealerhsip told me. (I was still able to get some awsf-32PP, however)

I've been thinking of going with the coppers next time...so the correct plug for that is AWSF-32C, right?

I've been reading a lot here that the coppers work better...but HOW do they work better? does anyone who uses them have a good comparision between them and that plat's?
How often should they be replaced?
My motor is stock(4.6L), do I need to change anything else if I switch to coppers?]

Oh well, I'm going to run them anyways. Next set I will go back to coppers I'm sure though. Eitherway they are the factory Motorcrafts and that was the big goal of it, since I origanally bought Autolites.

Autolite manufactures the Motorcraft plugs...Autolite OE heat range for the 4.6L is 764.

I use the nkg v powers and love them $1.79 a plug at napa I used to use bosh platinums and platinums in general f##### suck.I have seen the best performance out of the nkg v powers than any other plug and my speed shop were the one's that told me to use them. I gained 2hp over the platinums on the dyno last year

My opinion is to change them at the 30,000 mile mark.

I changed mine out at about that interval.

If you want to change them early, then by all means !!!!

When I ran the Bosch platinums in my 85 Cougar LS 5.0, I swapped them out every 15,000 to 20,000 miles. Probably a waste of money, but that was my choice.

now that I run copper plugs I change them quite often. every little bit helps when you odn't have enough power to start with..

can you run colder then stock plugs on stock eec w/o a chip.....i heard somewere they burn up something in the engine

Anyone ever ese Denso plugs? Do worn out plugs contribute to crappy gas mileage... my poor car has dropped to 16 on 89 octane.

Denso's=blah
Just get a set of Motorcrafts,or Autolites,and be done with it.Yes,worn plugs can seriously impact an engine's efficiency,and it will tend to use more fuel.
