It Runs!!!

Well after a long couple of weeks the key was turned and she started up! Almost brought a tear to my eye! Right now the vacuum connector on the EGR Vac. Reg. is being fixed, and that should be it!

I can't wait to drive her.

The trans. tech said he had no clue how my 1-2 shift didn't break my neck, he said that the bottom spring on the 1-2 acc. was broken. I have no clue how I didn't have a broken neck either, my 1-2 was extremely soft!

Sure is. Thanks to everyone especially Tim for your help, wouldn't have been possible without you guys.

'Bout to go take her out, although just found out that the EGR is throwing a code for some reason. It's not in normal operating range right now so we need to figure out what is wrong with that. Sounds nice though.

I would bet that is a bad wiring connection at the flow sensor

We just got back from the test run and it feels good, shifts are much better, feels real nice. WOT 1-2 there is something going on there, not sure what yet. Doesn't feel right.

Turned out to be switched wires on the EGR vacuum regulator. We lengthened that connector by quite a bit as we mounted it under the passenger side coil pack and somehow the wires got transposed. It's all good now though.

Regarding the 1-2 WOT shift, I've been gone for a couple hours but the trans. guy Rob said when it cooled down he was going to check the OSS to make sure it was plugged in and good to go, and if not he suspected a nick in the 1-2 piston seal. Should know for sure in an hour or two...

Now I just need to get my chip burned and sent to me so I can get my car in optimal condition with the chip and '03 MAF for Moroso in a couple of weeks!

How much was the motor and shipping, I assume from Greenleaf right? What did the shop charge to swap motors?

Sounds like its coming out nice, maybe post a pic or even better a vid.

The motor with shipping was $1200 or so give or take a little bit...parts including new converter and flexplate probably close to a grand. I got the motor from Greenleaf. Also in there is a trans rebuild and about 14 hours of labor time charged to mechanics up there. Not sure how much the labor total will be, but it won't be quite as bad as Joe Schmo off the street as my father and I were involved quite a bit and he is the P&S Dir. at the dealership. Most of the labor was on the transmission, we did most of the engine stuff (not the wiring). I'll get some pics up tomorrow I think. I'm actually about to head back up there to pick the car up and have her for a few days before I go back to Orlando in the Exploder. She'll be going into the body shop next week and I should get her back just in time for Moroso.

Well I finally have "Money Pit" in my possession. The OSS was unplugged causing the odd 1-2 WOT behavior, now it pulls hard to redline. Very hard. Big difference. The Mark converter also makes a noticeable difference.

It really is amazing how smooth everything went. Of all the problems to have, the two that we did have the EVR and OSS were extremely easy fixes. Let's hope that those are the only problems. The engine fired up on the first crank, it took about 10 seconds for the fuel system to get pumping but it cranked right up. I actually wasn't even there but of all the techs standing around it no one wanted to be the one to turn the key. Finally the senior tech there grabbed the keys and hopped in, and she started up right away. Computer still has to relearn itself, it is still adjusting for idle speed and such with about 25 miles on it today. I can spin from a dead stop now finally, didn't use to be able to on my stock engine/TC/tranny and 3.08 open rear.

Anyone considering this swap, please feel free to ask questions. I am very willing to answer where I can, and I guarantee you if you ask Tim or John or any of the other guys they will be very glad to as well.

GB, you ain't got nothing to worry about yet I don't think, I'll be happy to see 14.99 in a few weeks and I know that you are ahead of me in that respect. You're not bringing GoldBird to Moroso though are you?

Congrats Palm, now maybe you'll have time to answer the PM's and emails I sent you regarding the RM tube??????????

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself".
John Stuart Mill (1806 - 1873)

Goldbird is still under the care of the good Dr. Frankencougie at the moment and regretfully will not be able to attend. Mr Hyde will not be there.

Silverbird, The Dr. Jekell(SP) of the two. Will be attending and with Mike behind the wheel will probably be laying down consistent 15.9's to 16's all night. If it was bracket elinimations, he would win hands down. Car just ran the same time within two tenths the whole night last time out.

Inaccurate as it may be, my unofficial 0-60 testing shows around 7.2 seconds, compared with a pre-swap average of 8.5 or so. Obviously this is not accurate, but my testing method is consistent.

I'm very excited.
