blackstone oil report.

Here it is guys.

The car sat with this oil in it for nearly a year in the garage. The oil has about 4000 miles on it.

I got the oil hot when I first got the car, and replaced it with

4.5 quarts of mobil1 10w30, and 1 quart of mobil1 15w50 to thicken up the oil a bit.

I'm going to put a paper filter on it, I don't think the K&N cone is doing a great job.

I like the moly numbers Mobil 1 has in it. I just started running it on my bird, planning to do a UOA after 5000 miles.

Justin those calcium numbers look pretty high is that normal. hope its not related to antifreeze or anything.

Other then that seems like your bird is doin pretty well.

Thumbs up

Silicon does look a bit high for 4000 miles, although you don't see many 4.6s with single digits for that.

Calcium is a detergent and in high concentrations is also an antiwear additive. It will be taking more and more of an AW role as phosphorus (and thus zinc) limits are continually lowered by the API.

Overall an excellent report, especially given the length of time the oil was in use.

Do they tell you what is normal and what is dangerous for the amounts? I have been thinking about getting an analysis done, but I wouldn't know what to make of all the numbers. I guess I could post it here, or learn what it all means beforehand...
