Which MAF?

I spoke to Dan, and found that the 95 and 96 have different MAFs, SO... I'll get a new MAF... Which one is the recommended one? Is it the '02 GT MAF? IF so, does it have the intergrated IAT?

Thanks...

stock 95 MAFs have a round connector and 4 wires.
96's still have 4 wires, but use a more square connector.
the 02+ GT MAFs have the IAT sensor, and therefore 6 wires but still use the 96+ connector.

I hope you're getting a chip for this maf if you're upgrading...

Yep... I'm planning on the SCT Flasher... I was thinking about getting the pigtail for the 02 MAF and using the intgrated IAT.

Just out of curiosity... what would happen if I tried to run the car with then new MAf but no flash? Would it run, but not good, or cause problems?

It would run like junk... especially at idle.

I would say it will run decent at idle, but complete crap at WOT. At least that's my experience with the 80mm L-MAF and the chip burned for the stock MAF. Their mistake, not mine.

TCCoA, there's no better way.

Is there any difference between the '02 and '03 GT MAFs? Embalmer's writeup said the IAT is not in the MAF on the '02s. Is this true? If so, I would guess I should get the '03?

I've got an 02 MAF here with 6 wires... so I'd sure say it does.

I just got a new PCM with a stock tune, and ran the KOEO test, and ran the car for a minute. On the stock tune, the car seems to run ok (at idle, and when I gave it a little gas, it didn't fall on it's face). If I take the car for a ride (short) with a stock tune and the GT MAF, how would it run, besides junk? Would it be rich or lean (I imagine it would be one of those)? Would there be any worry of damage to the engine?

Thanks....

The car will drive with a stock tune and a different MAF without major driveability problems, but I would not recommend doing this unless absolutely necessary and absolutely take it easy. I had to run like that for a little while for troubleshooting purposes, about 50 miles or so with a different MAF on stock tune without incident. I didn't have my laptop plugged in to monitor fuel trim.

When will you have a proper tune?

HOPEFULLY Monday... I'm rather displeased with Modular Depot right now... I was having problems with the Flasher. Kept getting Code 10 errors. First time I sent the flasher back, it took three weeks to finally get the new one, only to have it do it again. I kinda suspect that the non-stock tune in the PCM I was trying to flash is the reason for the problems, as it was saying not original vehicle/program, so I ordered a new PCM from a junkyard in FL. The thing is I wanted the new flasher yesterday, and it didn't arrive. It better be here Monday or I'll be Really ticked. It's been 4 weeks since I have driven my car, because I didn't want to drive it any more than I have with the tune for 24# injectors, LMAF, and other bolt-ons (that's what the first PCM was flashed with). I just want to drive it around town a little while it's nice to charge the battery (it was a bit weak).
