Changed my dads intake manifold.... AGAIN!

And I am having problems, again. After he swap I fired it up and took me a while for the car to start up, after we finally did, the car was shaking like a mofo, so we let it idle for a while. After 20 mins or so, car was still real shaky and when we wanted to move it into the garage, the car would just die. I've checked every vacum and everything is connected. What I am going to do, is to check the plugs and cables (even though I change the plugs lile 1 month ago and since then never used the cat) and see what is up. What else should I be looking for?!

propane works a lot better for finding leaks.

well hopefully you bought an intake with an aluminum cross over this time. it will keep you from having to swap them out.

Last intake I had the alum cross but it started to leak from the nipple. I re-checked everyting I it "works" better than the last time I started the car, now I need to replace the air intake hose, it is still missing so we will see what happens!

Ok, I am pissed and the damn stupid car wont work properly. I re-torque the intake to 18lbs, checked all of the vacum hoses and the car idles a lil funky and when I accelerate, it bogs down a little and to make matters worst, the stupid fan will not turn on. I had to change the sensors because I could not take them out the old intake so I bought new ones at vato zone. What else could I look for?! I checked the cables and they are in order, also, when I took a plug out, the damn thing broke, nothing went into the engine.

spray the intake and throttle body down with b12 chem tool....while the engine is running....(not when it hot) just first thing in the AM...

your looking for a change in rpm....if you get one you have a airleak in the mantifold gasket....

if thats good....

then inspect your spark plug wires....make sure they are connected to the plug good...and TRIPLE CHECK that you dont have one crossed....thats all it takes

perhaps also you may need new plugs and wires......

Well here is the scoop there was coolant in plug 5, 6, & 7 so I blew out the spark plug well of any fluid that was in there. I decided that I would replace the plugs and wires and was I glad I did. Bank # 2 looks like it was running rich plug 5 was the worst of that side. Bank # 1 looked like it was running lean the # 1 plug had a worn electrode. The car now has more power and gets off the line a lot faster and ran a lot smoother. Thanks for all your help

Ralph
