Unhappy misfires when gave full throttle

hello everyone I have a 95 thunderbird with a 4.6L and when i go to pass a car i hear a alot of poping in the exhust its got ture duels on it it sounds like a major backfireing problem can anyone help me?

1. search
2. replacing spark pluges/spark fires/fuel filter/cleaning maf ? done any of that?

i have done all but cleaning the maf how would i go baout doing that like what wolud i use to clean it

Check the tech articles on the main page .

Go to intake ,down at the bottom you will see cleaning MAF wires .


You can use search also .

I just did this about 2 days ago. It’s VERY simple, but you will need a tamper proof T-20 torx bit. If you can’t find one (I had a fairly difficult time getting one), U can cut a slot in the screw to make a flathead screwdriver work. AutoZone has these bits BTW.

I used window cleaner, it was mentioned somewhere on the forum. Basically, you want a cleaner that doesn’t leave any residue when dry and isn’t too harsh on the sensor element.

1995 T-bird 4.6l - Eibach lowering springs, Cobra R hood, One 12" sub woofer, Alpine type-R front speakers. 16.249 @85.11mph 1/4 mile

btw do you have cats? if so are they stock/highflow?
CEL light on/off?

well I cleaned my maf sensor and if car runs better than ever thanks everyone!

hell yeah, just as egOr and I have noted in a different thread---the maf clean makes major change.....I got 30-40 % more power when I had initially thought the engine was on its last legs(backfiring, valve rattles, bogged when I would floor it). Glad it is fixed for you now

I've been noticing it can even make some trans act like they are giving up weird how that seems to be kind of a cure all for these cars huh.
