motor after sitting a year

just got my engine donor cars motor cranked.it's been sitting for over a year.when i try to give it gas it kinda stalls.the gas filler neck was ripped out post katrina to syphon 8 gallons of gas(gas was REALLY precious then...lol). could this be a problem with the motor not running right?
really appreciate all the info that i've gotten from this site...

I'd be more afraid of water in the mix if the tank sat empty (and busted) for that long.

Sometimes, we just need to remember what the rules of life really are:
You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
