Knock Question.

Ok so I am driving and I hear a clicking noise that increases with the RPMs in the car. The car is running strong and there are no misses. about 40 miles later all hell breaks loose. The knock is LOUD. Its hard to tell where it is coming from, Kinda sounds like the rear of the motor. The motor still has full power and idles normal.

Heres the question, My dad seems to think that its possible that a Flywheel bolt has backed out. How possible is this?

I am actually waiting for the car to be towed back to my house.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Not very possible I would think, but stranger things have happened. Does the trans. still shift ok? maybe it's the TC. Hope its not a rod knock...

These are highly engineered precision vehicles, the first step in diagnosing the problem is to strike the suspected offending part sharply and repeatedly with a blunt object, then re-test.

Get out a solid dowel or rod and hold your thumb over the end and put it to your ear while moving the other end around and touching different places on the block and try to isolate it.
My bet is its on the drivers side in one of the back 2 cylinders.
