Intermittant Starting issue

First, Hi all. Just bought a bone stock 95 4.6 after almost 10 years bird free...

On to the problem:

Occassionally, and usually after running for a few mins(quick trip to the store, etc), the car cranks, but will not start. Typically, after letting it sit for 45 mins to an hour, it will start right up.

I can't seem to duplicate the problem on demand, usually happens when I'm a ways from home, and it's dark, or I'm late getting somethere...

Once it starts it seems to run pretty well.

Being on an extremely tight budget at the moment, I unfortunatly can't just throw $$ at the problem.

What I know:
Battery is good
Plugs look ok(gonna replace em anyway)

I am considering the following as possible offenders:

1. plugs/wires - will be replacing these this weekend regardless
2. fuel filter - most likely do that this weekend as well
3. Crank position sensor - just read about that here today, will check that

Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

On a semi-related note, can anyone reccommend someone in the Tampa, FL area who could help me do the jmod on my tranny as suggested all over these boards? Err, cheaply... I just don't have the tools/expertise to attempt something of that magnitude just yet.

Definitely sounds like it might be the crank sensor.

Before you replace it, check the wiring to it. My brother's was a loose wire at the pigtail.
