Phoenix car shopping

So I hope to make it up to Phoenix this weekend and find a car. All the Thunderbirds, Cougars, and Mark VIIIs here in Tucson as horrible.

I have setup a couple of appointments to look at a couple of Mark VIIIs. Not sure how I am going to handle two cars if I get one, but who knows.

My 97 Cougar got totaled. The insurance gave me 4200 for it (I bought it back for 400, so got 3800), I need a car now (rental is due back on Monday), only other option is to replace the head gaskets on my 89 Cougar, which I am not looking forward to, so probably won't do, and just strip it for parts.

I don't think the world is ready for a 97 Pearl Cougar with an 89 white front end!

Anyone know of anything available?

Saw a nice 96 cat at ecology today for 1500 didnt have squat for damage. Its a junkyard if you didnt know on 27th ave and van buran. But they sell whole cars all the time. And a 96 cat was up front I looked inside and it was decently clean too. If you want a cheap car talk them down to 1200 or less. But it had no rust far as I could see. Not perfect but looked like a driver. THats the only one ive personally seen. Same place as those rare chrome sport rims so you could techically get both and ditch the stockers but they were the nice 12 spoke design.

I am really interested in this one, http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/3431745026.html

There is/was a 1993 Mark VIII with low miles but I haven't been able to get a hold of the seller.

I am not sure I have a good way to get parts back to Tucson, but I think I want to try to find a Pearl 96/97 Cougar/Thunderbird front clip for the wrecked car too. It seems like with some minimal pulling the core support could be straightened out, the doors seem to stick out a little at the tops, hood, passenger fender, steel, foam, and cover for the bumper, headlights, header panel, EVAP canister should be it. Passenger door the fender is pushed back and in so it hits the hinge, then it hits the door trim.

So I put 300 on the 97 from Craigslist. He didn't have the title, so I have to go back on Tuesday I HOPE and get it. Pretty clean, a few parking lot dents and dings, transmission fluid smelled a little old/used but not burnt. Headliner torn in the back. Otherwise a pretty nice 15 year old car for under 3,000.

It didn't have the get up and go I assumed it would have, with 80 more hp than my Cougar, but a lot of that was the non JModed/no tune shifting than anything else.

And...Ecology? OMG that is Thunderbird heaven. Did I miss the Ford section because where I went it was maybe 75% Thunderbirds. I saw one Pearl Thunderbird, I think I would be okay with a Cougbird, I think it would look better with matching paint than with the expected chrome grille. Only other thing is lack of chrome trim.

I had zero tools with me, I went to get a price sheet and scope it out. I left with an interior door handle for my 2000 Grand Marquis, which isn't done in the aftermarket (it is is done in tan, but not grey), 5 bucks (plus EPA fee, is that each item, a one time fee, or?) whohoo.

Make sure the color code is a match, there's 2 different white tricoats available on the 97s. White Opalescent (WR) and Crystal white (WZ)

Yup, WZ is the what a few of them are, there was one WR, and that is what I need. I might look around a little more locally and up there for a Cougar, I need to start tearing it down and make sure of what I really have to repair.
