AZ chapter meet and greet! July 15th

Ok, heres the info:
  • When: Saturday, July15th, 2:00pm
  • Where: Hooters of Ahwatukee. I dont know the exit number, but it appears to be just west of I-10 (Chandler Blvd exit), outside of Chandler, AZ.

This is the first AZ chapter meet..... EVER!!!!! As far as I know anyway. So lets see if we can get a decent turnout. This isn't going to be anything too fancy, just get everyone together, get a headcount, see what we're all runnin', maybe talk about some stuff for the future, grab a bite to eat. I'd like to do a cruise to some scenic-ish area afterward, before the sun goes down, so we can get some pictures. I dont know Chandler at all, so perhaps someone who does can suggest something.

So go get the day off, clear the schedule, wash and wax the car. Be there or be square, wankers.

RSVP list:
Nigel (Stupidfly)
Garret (MadGoat) +2
Tony (Bangster) +2
Steve (Astaeroth)
Mike (PHXBird)

BTW, why dont you guys RSVP in this thread. Just so we can all get an idea whos going.

Macomom, if your bird isn't up to the trip when the time comes I can probably arrange to pick you up, or you can meet me in Tucson and ride with me the rest of the way. That offer goes for anyone else in my area that cant make the drive. Word of warning: my CD player was stolen awhile back, and hasnt been replaced yet. And I may or may not have my AC recharged by then.... windows down baby

Am going to try to be there - as long as my wife doesn't have other plans for me.

This should be interesting. I head a local club of Nissan 4x4's and getting involved with another club is about the last thing I have time for, but I guess I enjoy meeting fellow enthusiasts too much.

I dont think the TCCoA AZ chapter will be too much of a time sink for you. I cant see us starting to have dragstrip meets and BBQs every weekend or anything like that. At anyrate, I hope you can make it!

I am 90% sure I can make it (I asked the boss/er wife)
I am 85% sure I will be driving a Cougar
I am 80% sure I will be driving a 97 Cougar
I am 10% sure I will be driving a 89 Cougar
I am 5% sure I will be driving a 2000 Grand Marquis
I am 2% sure I will be calling AAA to drag one of the above cars off the highway. (higher probability if it is the 97!)

I am 100% sure that if anyone wants spindles, hubs, new end links, calipers, rotors off an 89 Cougar that they should PM me and I will bring them with me. They have 165k, the calipers were rebuilt 40k ago, the rotors are good, recent. Nothing great, but anyone wanting to limp along an older car there is nothing wrong with them, I upgraded to 11.8 Sport brakes on the 89 (whoohooo) and since it got all the hand me downs from the 97, there is nothing to hand the 89s stuff to.

I hope to have my XCal II before then, and I guess I should try to get the cruise working on the 97.

Hell, bring the boss/wife along, if she can stand Hooters and car talk. I'm not an enormous fan of Hooters myself, but it seems to be in a convienent location, and pretty standard fare for car club meets.

Misty, you need any of those front suspension parts yet And you still have time to train a stand-in for that Saturday. What time does your DJ/kareoke gig get started? Maybe we can get you back in time, or just have someone stand in for an hour or so.

Alrighty, heres the deal. There has only been one reply from any Phoenix area guys. Granted its still a couple weeks off (and I plan on sending out a mass e-mail about it), but if there isn't anyone available for the meet from the Phoenix area, I think Garret, Tony, and I may just go get burgers at the Bum Steer

this isnt meant to sound confrontational or anything... I'm definetly up for the drive, and want to see who else we have out here in AZ. But I'm not real keen on the idea of driving up to Chandler to have lunch with the guys I drove up with. So if you can't make it, thats cool. Believe me, no hard feelings, we all have lives that dont revolve around TCCoA. We can always do another one of these later on. Just let us know

PS. I'll send out that mass e-mail tomorrow sometime. It may just be that not too many of the AZ guys have seen this yet.

I'm going to try and make it. I have to take my daughter to the airport that day but I'm not sure what time. I will find out tonight and post up tomorrow. If I can make it and I'm the only PHX guy, maybe I just head your way?

Can a Mk join the party?

To tell the truth, I may not be able to make it, as a) My Mk is getting some work done and b) its my b-day on the 15th and I KNOW some friends have some stuff planned...

It would be cool to try and make it, though...

As long as I get a chance to get some new tires on the 89, I will be representing the cats with two two two cars. I am going to try to get both of them up there, drop the family off to visit with my sister and have my dad and/or brother in law drive it, so I might me +1 or +2 if you need to know this early to make space. It ain't pretty, but it gets me around, I will keep it away from the really shiney ones and away from pictures, but it is my 97 Dr Jekyls' Mister Hyde.

Je r├ęponds. I'm in.

I didn't mean to respond so late, but I had computer problems/lack of time to surf. I haven't even checked my mail for two weeks.

Sorry I can't help out with a scenic spot for pics, but my knowledge of the East Valley is contained to around and on campus in Tempe.

I hope more Phoenix people can attend, otherwise it's real nice of you Tucson people to come up here for just for me. [SARCASM]I'll feel so special.[/SARCASM]

Don't worry about it. It can hang out with my car. I need new paint and have a few dings.

Guys, I dont think ANY of us really have cherry/exceptional MN12s out here in the land of dust

I have to get ahold of Macomom, not sure if shes still in or not. I need to go pick her up if she is. Garret, Tony, we should think about where/when to meet to drive up there.

I am going to leave early in the morning and make a day of it. Not only will my immediate family (wife and son and daughter) be with me, but I talked my mom and dad into going so that my other car can go. They all are staying with my sister. My brother in law might know of a place near there for pictures, I will ask him.

So in conclusion, I will PM you with my cell phone number but I won't be caravaning up there, but will be there for the meet (89 is at discount getting some cheapo Kumho tires).

Thats right wankers, bow down to me, holder of Bangster's cell phone #!!!!!!!!

Sounds good man, I'll nab Garret, and we'll take turns scouting for speed traps on the way up

If anyone else wants to send their cell # my way, I can start calling people when I arrive, let everyone know what table etc. I promise I wont sell your # to any telemarketing firms.... and if you'll make the same promise to me, I'll give ya my number too!

you guys should drive up to South Mountain for pics......good scenic place up there.

But take them in the evening, around Dusk.......I want to see some pictures from there. When I used to live there, I loved the view from there, plus the drive up is pretty fun

sweet, looks like we're looking at a reasonable turnout. Hope so anyway. Gotta wash the car tomorrow

I plan on being up there around 1:45 with Garret (madgoat). So, when you get there, tell them you're there for TCCoA. And if they look at you funny, then you're the first person, and you should let them know that we have a potentiall large group coming in, and try to get a table. Or you can go outside and wait for more MN-12s your call. If anyone wants my cell # send me a PM.

I still say a BBQ at a park, but I am in the colder region of Tucson, it was only 105! Swamp cooler still working fine (NOT). I know my 89 is up for the heat, this will be the test for the 97, both distance wise and heat. It runs at 3/4 on the temperature gauge, on the XCal II that is around 215 which I guess is fine. I cheaped out and didn't get a new thermostat housing for the aluminum crossover intake, and I think that is where I am losing the pressurization of the cooling system.

Washed all cars last night, then it rained, so I gotta do it again, crap.
