Lapeer Drag Race Day - May 17th

The 1st Annual Spring Lapeer Dragway Day is on Saturday May 17th at Lapeer Dragway.

Lapeer Dragway:

http://www.lapeerdragway.com

Saturdays are Test-N-Tune, and for $25 you can get a LOT of runs in. Please
note that a helmet is required for all cars running. Any helmet will do, and
they also rent helmets at the track for $5. Long pants (jeans or the like) are required on the track.

The track opens at Noon, and is open until 5-6 PM or so (depends on crowds, it seems!).

After, we can meet at a family place to eat at.

Lapeer is always a good time for everyone. Lets see a nice bunch of birds and cats at this meet!

Is there a way we can post this to the club as a whole?

We can push it to another day. I wouldn't want to have it earlier then this since I need time to get my car ready. Throw some dates out there, once we have the date, we can let the rest of the club know of the day.

you can count me in for it as long as my car's running good at the time.

I'm dropping my car off this Monday to have it dyno tuned and getting an xcal as well so as long as everything is looking good I'll be there.

1996 T-bird, 4.6 with ported PI heads and VT stage 2 cams, JBA shorty headers, 3000 stall converter, 3.73 gears and just about every bolt on available.
Dyno tune results: 275.9rwhp and 301.4 torque.
Best 1/4 mile time: 13.65 at 99.52 mph.
Now I need more gear, more stall and some drag radials !!

Sounds like we have some interest here, thats great! I have also invited the Taurus guys from http://www.taurusclub.com to come (this is usually a yearly meet for them). This is a good oppertunity to kick some of those guys butts at the track.

There has been some interest on SHOFORUM and TaurusCarClub. It could be a good chance to race against the same vintage of Fords.

Weather WATCH: So far, they are talking about rain, Lapeer is miserable when it rains, so watch this space for details on if this meet is going forward.

Weather.com still says showers but at a 40% chance (was 60% last night). Channel 4 said it wasn't going to rain, so I don't know what the story is now. Stay tuned for updates.

I might be the only one going to this with a T-Bird . Gas prices must be too much for people here (or they have conflicts). Some SHO guys are going to be there, so it will be interesting at least to see what my car can do against theirs.

Well guys,

The forcast has changed for a bigger chance of rain, so I am going to cancel this event for now. You can still go, but the weather may play a big role on how muddy it is. Its going to rain all week here.

Lets try this again later on,

James

I'm going to try to make it since I haven't been to the track yet since I got my car dyno tuned. I just can't seem remember when it is that I have a graduation party to be at and when the family reunion falls. If I don't have anything that I have to be at, then I'll be there. I just can't say for sure if I'll be there or not.......but I'll be doing what I can to make sure I don't make any plans for that date.
