Dyno day at Alternative Auto.....

Hey guys, I just found out that Alternative Auto will be having their fall dyno day on Sept 27th and I plan on being there. I had Lidio dyno tune my bird a few months ago so I want to go back in some cooler air and see if the numbers go up. It's $50 for 2 pulls on the dyno for any make or model. I was there in April for their spring event and it was awesome.......they had ALL different cars there........Ford, Mercury, Chevy and even BMW's making pulls on the dyno.

They also have an Alternative Auto/Ubly Dragway Day that is booked for October 11th. I'm not sure what the cost is to race but I might go to that one too.

Anyone else interested in going to either one ? I know it's a drive for Dennis and Roger but maybe we could get a few of us to meet up there on the dyno day ? I know I'll be there but not sure what time....probably around Noon or 1:00.

If anyone else is interested in meeting up either there or somewhere close by and we could roll in together then let me know. The information is on their web site at alternativeauto dot com.

Thanks,
Jon

1996 T-bird, 4.6 with ported PI heads and VT stage 2 cams, JBA shorty headers, 3000 stall converter, 3.73 gears and just about every bolt on available.
Dyno tune results: 275.9rwhp and 301.4 torque.
Best 1/4 mile time: 13.65 at 99.52 mph.
Now I need more gear, more stall and some drag radials !!

Sounds like fun, I'd have to figure out a way to get out of work.

How late do you work ? I was there in April around 2:30 till probably about 4:30 and they were still going. I would guess that it might run till 5 or 6 before they call it a night. I'll have to call them and see if they have a set closing time. I know the web site says it begins at 8am and in April they ran 35 cars on the dyno !! It's pretty cool. I'll have to remember to take my camera and get a video too !!

I usually leave at 2:30, but I could get out earlier. Do you have to pre-register to get on the dyno?

I doubt I'll be going now that there's going to be that meet at Roger's house on the same day... but there's a small chance I'll make it.

Nope, no need to pre-register. You just show up and have them put you on the list for the dyno pulls and they just work the way down the list throughout the day. There were tons of cars there in April with lots of poeple just hangin out and checking out all the cars. Kinda like a small car show with mostly mustangs but a few others as well.

I thought they were having the meet at Rogers this weekend.......guess I won't be there if it's the same day as the dyno day at Alternative Auto. The dyno day is much closer for me anyway. I say we move the meet to Alternative Auto. LOL

Haha, well depending on the meet, I'll either be at it, or try to make it to Alternative. Really no biggie if I get dynoed or not. Its basically stock so it'd just be out of curiosity to see what shes putting down.

Well, I'll be leaving for Alternative Auto at about 1:00. If anyone else is interested in meeting up there give me a call on my cell. (586) 306-2752. I know I'll probably be there for a while and if anyone else wants to meet out there later i wouldn't mind cruising back up there.

Well, I had fun. There was a red SC there as well as a '97 bird that's running an 80 shot of nitrous. Wasn't a real big turnout......only 23 cars ran on the dyno for the day compared to 35 in April but it was cool anyway. Click below for a video of my car!

Nice vids. How were the numbers compared to when you had it tuned?

That yellow notch in the background of your second vid is nice. Saw it on Motown Muscle. He's running a 2v, and has a full sn95 interior swap. His dyno numbers aren't as high as yours though.

Well, when I told Lidio I wanted to put it on the dyno but didn't make any changes to the car he told me right then that I would run 15-20 hp lower because he wasn't locking the converter for the pull. He was right and that's just what it did. It did 260hp and 299tq. I don't have a scanner and have been really busy so I haven't had time to try taking a picture of the original dyno chart and this last one. Some day I'll get around to it. LOL
