It's BBQ time!

I'm gonna start getting a TCCoA BBQ together for sometime in mid-April. Anyone have a suggestion for a park that they'd like to have it at? There's one near my house, but it's not that big...or that nice. There's a nice big one with pavilions and such in Fraser, but not much parking. There's another one behind the high school by my house, but again, not much parking. So let me know where you'd like to have it.

If we're gonna have a TCCOA pic a nic, should we have it somewhere where we can see our cars, or just a normal park? I know of a couple of parks that'd be great.
1. There's a park on 13 Mile and John R in Madison Heights
2. A park in Warren off of 696, by Dequindre.
3.One of the Metro parks. Metro Beach, Kensington, Stony Creek.
Actually, I'd vote for Kensington because there are a bunch of little coves and we wouldn't have to share the lot with potential haters and we'd have our own space. Plus, it would be maybe a little more convenient for some of the people who have to drive further than the rest of us.

I like the Metro park idea. Nice and big, with plenty of space for us. Where exactly is Kensington? I've never been there. Metro Beach is kinda near my house, but it's not that great.

Kensington is off of I-96 about oh 20 minutes west of I-275 I guess. It would help the mid Michigan guys.

Well, it'll probably be in early May, since I have finals and term projects due in the next 4 weeks, I don't have a lot of time to spare to organize. I'll try to get it together ASAP, and I'll let you all know as soon as I have everything set.

Ok, what about getting together at Belle Isle? There's a lot of room, and it's pretty nice. There's a few cops on the island, but it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Reasons against Belle Isle

Too crowded
Too far and inconvenient unless you stay on the eastern side of the metro area
roads getting there are bad, roads on Belle Isle are bad
The police presence is overwhelming, considering the majority of the Detroit area cc meet on Belle Isle or Fuddruckers on Jefferson

My opinion.
I still think that if we're gonna do anything we should have it somewhere where it'd bbe more convient for everyone involved.

OK then Kensington is it. How's May 29th sound? That's a Sunday. Unless you guys want to get a shelter for $100, then we just show up and pick a spot. We don't need to reserve a place unless we have more than 50 people.

I think it'd be best to have it the next weekend. I didn't realize that that weekend was Memorial Day weekend for some reason. If it's the next weekend, then we just show up and pick a spot, simple as that. I imagine that a lot of people have plans with their families or something on Memorial Day so I think it'd be best to push it back a week.

Kensington's address is:

2240 W. Buno Road, Milford, MI 48380-4410

You should be able to get a map from Mapquest with that. It costs $4 per car to get in. If you guys want to rent a pavilion, it costs $100 for the day.

Got some ???'s. Are there grills at the park? Is everyone bringing their own food, drink and table service? Just some things I was thinking of as the day gets closer.

Is the bbq still on and when, for sure. I thought it was going to be on June 5, but I'd sure hate to drive 1 1/2 hrs and be the only one there!!!

I agree.

How is it going to work as far as food wise? If you want I can pick up burger's and dog's and bring them out Just let me know if you want me to and how many. It might make it easier than everybody bringing there own food. I'll leave it up to you guy's.

Sorry about leaving everyone hanging on the BBQ. I just got a new job so I'm getting a few bugs worked out as far as that goes.

The BBQ will be on June 11 (so everyone has time to plan ahead for it) at Kensington Park. I'll get burgers, hotdogs, buns, chips, etc. from Sam's and bring them up with me. We'll all meet at the front gate at 1:00, wait a little while so everyone can show up, then we'll go find an empty site and start the BBQ. How's that plan sound to everyone?
