Talking Update...

Just wanted to give you guys a good heads up and share some info. I posted awhile back my return to Michigan from a 13 year hiatus, coming back for recruiting duty for the Navy. I am to report to Dearborn (Ya! Home of Ford), an office at the intersection of Carlysle and Telegraph road in February.

I am very much looking forward to it, and now I am in the hunt for a good 4 BD 2 bath house in Redford/Dearborn Hgts/Livonia/and maybe Canton.

Could anyone please give me a little assistance as to which areas are better than the others. I was thinking that I was going to be over by St.Clair shores...instead they got me the other way......

Thanks alot, and really, I cant wait to meet my area TCCoA!

Roger

Dearborn Hgts. aint too bad. East dearborn is mostly arabic population aint isn't really a place that I would want to move to. I think the best place for you to look into getting a house is either Dearborn Hgts, Livonia, Canton, or south Dearborn. There is a house up for sale by my house with a nice garage and I think it's 4 BD and has a loft up in the garage, so if the old lady get's mad tell her to go to the garage. LOL If you want I can take some pics for ya tomorrow of the outside.

Taxes im not sure about I will ask my parents about it, Im not positive but I think the taxes in canton are a bit pricey.
Also I drove by your future work (I think) the other day and they had a hog heaven for vet's. With the big rigs in the median of Telegraph.

Well, seeing as how I am in h.s. still, I can tell you that the H.S. is an amazing school for the kids. The auto program is most likely one of the best in michigan.
What kind of price range are you working with? There are about ten billion neighborhoods in Canton which have been recently built. There are a lot of 4bd, 2br in the 400 range in the 1990+ houses.
Neighborhoods:
sub 325 range
Ford (south side) and Morton Taylor (it's between lilley and sheldon)
Morton Taylor and Warren/Joy

325+ range:
Beck and Warren
Actually, just go up and down Beck between Mich. Ave and N. Territorial.
Beck road has oodles and oodles of new houses built 1990 and Up

2.25" True Dual Catless DI/DO Magnaflow Exhaust, Eibach Springs, Addco 1 3/8", J-mod, Viper 791 Alarm, Clarion 855 full color touch-screen, Directed 2400 amp , 2 12" CV Strokers with a custom ported box, K&N air filter, 180* T-Stat, Xcal2 SCT TUNED BY LONNIE 17 x 7.5 (245/45/17) Chrome Cobra R's, 17x9 in back(275/40/17)

yeah I'm gonna try to swing by there and take pictures for ya. I've been busy everyday and haven't had time to take pic's but I got nothing planned after work today so I should get there. To me the price aint too bad neither. It's hard to see in the photo but the garage has two doors one on the opposite side also. I've been told that the inside had been redone about 5 years ago.

Commute vs. Quality

Tell you what, if you don't mind a slightly longer
commute( 50-60 minutes)(hopefully you have a
fuel efficient car), You should definitly check out
Brooklyn, Irish Hills, Hillsdale, or anything out near
US12 and 127 area. This would be between Jackson
and Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.

We're talking a little more secluded, lake access homes
peace, quit, nature.......................yeah, and much more
bang for the buck, and about 100-150 grand cheaper than
the Canton area.

For example, I looked at a 1600 sq. ft. house across the
street from an all sports lake (Lake Leanne) in Hillsdale,
in the Cherry Park Sub, had 2 car garage/ walkout basement,
floor to ceiling windows
(cathedral ceilings) skylights 3bdr 2ba for 150k
The windows in the living room faced West over the lake
so you get front row seats for the sunset every day.
I couldn't find a house like this one in Canton for less than
300 thousand

Good Luck

Thanks for that, but one problem, is that my family either lives on the Eastside of Detroit or they are out in Sterling Heights, I prefer not to be too far from them. I know that area you speak of and as nice as it sounds, I will have to pass, Thank you though for the assistance, like I said, any is better than nothing.

P.S> I really don't have a fuel efficient car either....

Sorry Dude, not doing the Heights. Grandparents were just telling me that, and from there to work everyday wouldn't be fun.

I will be working off of Telegraph and Carlylse, which is just off of I-94.

Hey my girlfriend lived right next to that house it was built a couple years back, its a nice neighborhood, there aint really that much traffic, once a year there's a carnival up at St.Sabastian's and alot of people park down that street. The House looks pretty neat inside. The owners sold the land that the house is built on so there aint much of a backyard and the 2 house's are kinda close together.

Thanks for that update, talk about hitting close to home for you! LOL. The real estate agent I asked about it from said this:

Dearborn Hts. is a small community siding up to
Dearborn. This house is a newer built house in a older
neighborhood. Not necessarily a good buy. If you are
my customer, I will help you make the best decision on
the purchase of a home.
You can go to Barbsellshouses.com and on the lower
part of the page is a place to put MLS #'s in. That
will show you all of the pictures I have avaliable.
It would be my pleasure to help you find a nice house
in a area that will be a good investment.

Thanks for all the help!

I will be over that way tomorrow when the sun is up and get some more pictures and we will see about going in the house and the backyard for pic's.

It look's like it is vacant so I doubt if the house is unlocked.

Talked to the Real Estate agent again for that house, and it doesn't seem to be a viable house as an investment cause of the older houses in the area.

Seems though that my search has taken me more to Redford than anything, there are like 4 houses (New) that catch the wife and I eyes...

Thanks for the help, damn, I can't wait to get this over with!
