3.8L Cooling system quesitons

Hey guys,
Just got back from Vegas last night after driving the Cougar 1300+ miles. This is after doing an upper engine rebuild as you may recall. Car did okay except the normal lack of power for the engine itself.

My question is:
The temp gauge would go from the N of Norm to the M or norM. N being low on down hills and level areas and M when it was climbing those 15deg grade hills for 10 miles or so. Is this normal? I know that the fan kicks in at M. I did not loose coolant or oil and got about 26-27mpg on the highway and I was using the AC most of the time. I know in my Town Car the gauge does not move from the M in NorMal except in rare conditions. Is the swaying back and forth normal?

Mine does that. For a 3.8L going up those hills puts a heavy load on the engine, so I would say it's completely normal, especially with the A/C on. My car acted the exact same way going to Vegas last summer.

Cool.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I wasn't sure if the rad or the pump was just not doing its job as good as it used too.

BTW: What j-mod brand did you go with? That is my next step. Fraken 1-2 2-3 shifters...
