head gasket question

is it normal for these engines to have a blown intake gasket along with the head gaskets? i tore down the engine in my 96 last night and it looked to me like the problem was the intake gasket, water blowing out tailpipes and some in the oil. i didnt take the heads off yet but im wondering if the gaskets are even bad.

under the circumstances I might run a compression check and if it comes out good I would invest in an intake gasket set before I pulled the heads---but if the compression test is bad then go ahead with the tear down.............Dan

If you have the intake out already, keep going and do the heads as well. I did the heads and all and did not do the water pump when I was looking at it. Now I wish I would have when I had the engine apart.
