Post usual cost for engine swap?

does anyone know around how much it would cost for labor if i found a used complete 3.8 engine and had a small shop install it?

That's probably over a grand in labor.

yep. i spent less than 1k doing it myself including the engine.

rent or borrow an engine hoist, round up a couple (mn12 literate) buddies that know what they are doing, spend a day on the weekend getting the swap done, and buy them each a case of cold ones.

that's how we do it in texas.

I was quoted $600 but due to what I had taken off beforehand it ended up costing a grand which also included a tow. This isn't including the cost of the engine which ran me another grand.
