3.8 cam questions

I was wondering if the super coupe cams are more aggressive than a n/a 3.8? I am planning a 4.2 build and was going to try to use as many factor parts as possible and see how.much hp I.can.achieve. I know a guy who built a svo2.3 with all factor parts like ranger roller cam etc... and achieved 400+ HP. I know building a n/a 4.2 will not yield that much but I am shooting for 275-300 . Just making my " grocery list " right now . I like doing things a little different that's why I got a Cougar instead of another mustang. Also I wonder if the 4.2 truck cams are different? Thanks for any input or suggestions.

List of camshafts for the Ford V6 from v6power.net:

I'd research v6power.net and 3.7mustang.com about the swap.

From what I've read, your numbers sound ambitious vs. a simple engine drop in. See what other folks have done to get into that ballpark.

While your figures far exceed my target for my lemons car (simple splitport upgrade), I AM considering an upgraded camshaft.... something along the lines of a 207/215 camshaft will likely be sufficient for my needs and new springs are allegedly NOT required.

Please let me know what you decide. I'd like to know how it works out for you.

Good stuff that answered my cam question. Well 275 + maybe overshooting but 250-265 should be achievable by the way im speaking flywheel HP not rwhp . Pretty sure the rwhp would be about 20-25% less giving the parasitic load . Wonder if Windsor valves will work in these heads because I have a new set of 1.94 intake and 1.64 exhaust for a 69 302.

Looking at some of the numbers and it seems that there should be away to pull say 25-35 HP out of a n/a 4.2 because ford is claiming something like 215-225 flywheel hp on a stock f-150 4.2. Guess my all factory isn't realistic . But I think with a not too wild cam and roller rockers and really work over the heads and intake 250should be doable . Its a daily driver so not trying to get to crazy . If nothing else I will just improve the factory 4.2 heads etc and go with a sc cam and just be happy with that I mean just a stock 4.2 is a great improvement.
