possible turbo setup

at sccoa we contacted a comapny that will do us a custom setup for the SC's to replace the superchargers with turbos , and the most possible route will be using the 3.8lx manifold , by doing so LX bird would also be able to use the setup just with lower boost.

if interested check the info

http://host.sccoa.com/forums/showthr...threadid=38373

and show your interest by contacting the company

You might consider opting for the supersixmotorsports.com upper box intake with the bigger throttly body opening.

Sounds like a coo project. I'm really interested in seeing it done as I've been considering a turbo setup in the back of my mind. I'll probably setlle for a supercharger unless you guys can get this project done successfully and the price isn't too high.

same here i think it will be great and i always wonder how the car would do with a turbo on it so yea i would love to see how it all comes out but that also brings in my mind about a twin turbo kit i wonder if that can be done but yea i would love to know more about it and how much all this would cost to get put on our cars

If the whole turbo deal works out, would the company consider making a kit for the v8's.

That guy Stocker 89 is a riot. He doesn't know the first thing about forced induction or how turbo's work. The sad thing is, he thinks he's right...LOL.

Yeah and another sad thing is that he lives 20 miles from me. So I had to hold back my frustrations with his posts.

A turbo 3.8L or 4.2L would be way kickass in a '96-'97. It would even be cooler than a Vortech 4.6L if the power levels were similar.

Actually after overthinking it I will likely stay s/c.

Anyways, is it true that '96/'97 NA blocks are stronger than pre-'96? Not forged though right? How much psi for us then?

Yes the '96-'97 3.8L's are stronger. Not sure what, if anything in them is forged.

But I would definately take a turbo or two over a Vortech or a roots-blower.

I bet rancher knows the limits of a 3.8 as he has a 96 with a vortech on it.

Cool

when doing a twin turbo setup on a 3.8 do you have to remove powersteering pump or is there away around it,also is the supersix air box really tall, because I built a 4inch cowl induction hood for my bird so I got room to put something in it.

the supersix box intake fits under the stock hood.

I'm sure there's a way of retaining the power steering pump when making a twin turbo setup. If one were to purchase an AJE racing tubular k-member it would probably make a turbo setup much easier.

if you flipped it it would probably stick through the top of the hood lol. OH but then you could mount the turbos sticking out of the hood and look real meeeeaaaan.

but really,if you fliped them upside down there would be enough room for piping at least i would think and run the turbo's in the front with the fan and shroud removed?

it would be some what of a mess im sure but it alwasys is with turbo's

Its a jeep thing I don't under stand.

hahaha yeah ive joked about that before, guess it wasnt this thread but i do remember reading a thread here about a turbo set up and a few guys where talking about flipping the stock manifolds upside down but there was the problem of the manifolds being angled, thats where i got the idea of the fwd manifolds

Its a jeep thing I don't under stand.

That's a good idea. The front/bumper side manifold might be the only one that'd work though...not exactly sure. I'm going to a junkyard to get a few turbocoupe t3 turbo's I might check out if they have any taurus manifolds and snap some pictures.

yeah i wasnt able to really look at the back side to well but the front is what i gota good look at.Thats the same idea i had sorta but the turbo i saw was from a 80's turbo coupe not sure how much boost a old turbo coupe would produce if any at all for a 3.8 stock, dont want to blow it up you know

Actually t3 turbo's are quite good for the 3.8 and even 5.0. Especially for a twin setup. There are quite a few 5.0's and 3.8's that use them. It's even got a nickname..."efficiency turbo" because they're cheap at junkyards.

While I won't give out any specifics, there is a turbo kit soon to be under way which should solve ALL your fitment problems. Stay tuned.

fitment problems gone? sounds too good to be true now only if the price problem could be somewhat limited, it would be a great way to get out of the high 16s
