S/C manifolds on N/A 3.8L?

Was just thinking that the 96/97 exhaust manifolds flow better than previous years. With that; it came ot my attention that the s/c 3.8L have after market headers. Will the stock and/or after market headers fit my 91 3.8L cat?

The stock sc manifolds are exactly the same as your stock manifolds. And the midlength kooks headers will fit your cat but you'll need new downtubes.

You'll also need to make a lot more power to really need the kooks headers.

can go with the 96/97 manifolds but i wish i would have just got my cast ones ported instead the 96/97 are ok but need to be opened up some more at the head flanges to really get some effectiveness, either one is a cheaper alt. than kooks. i am having my stock manifolds ported for my sc

the 96-97 shorties flow better than the 89-95 manifolds. The primary flanges can be opened a bit but the exhaust side of the head isn't that big to begin with so porting them won't do you much good unless you port the heads also.

Just don't try using 94-95 headers on your 91. You'll have passenger side problems fitting them.

Yeah Why PCD? they are all the same except for 96/97 manifolds I think the best exhaust manifolds are the 94-98 mustang manifolds just might wanna shave a tiny bit off the steering shaft not absolutely needed these manifolds have awesome flow numbers though i think they are even better than the 96/97 shorties im almost positive the collector is bigger and can even be opened up more

Thomas and Justin,

The passenger side header from the 95 didn't fit in the 92 body Albee is putting together. There were changes made between those years so that the 95 header doesn't fit the space where the 92 header does.

Are you talking about his sc or the old old tbird that he has (turbo coupe looking one) cause my old manifolds went on to a 90 tbird when I got my mustang ones and they bolted right up to his and I have a 95 motor in my 94 same difference between the two

Mike has a 90 something 3.8 he just recently bought as another commuter car. He's dropping the engine in and will hopefully have it done in time to bring it to Hangover Fest.

Thomas and Justin,

Mike has the 92 N/A done. I was over there yesterday. He said the 95 header's holes were at a much different angle than the 92's.

That 92 with the 95 engine has some snap to it.

I won't be at Cordova. My Eldest daughter wants to go to Green Bay that day. Brenda says she's a butt for not wanting to go to the drag races.

I Thought you were talking about his supercoupe but yeah I know they wont fit the older style body but the sc is the same all years in the engine compartment

So what is the verdict? Should i get the 96/97 mn12 n/a headers, or the 94-98 stang headers

I know the 97 shorties will work. Ask racecougar about the 'Stang headers.

I have the stang headers and me personally id rather have these then the 96 97 bird ones I hope your having exhaust done soon cause either way your gonna need some different pipe does anyone have some flow numbers ffor both id really like toknow i know the old stang headers 94-98 flow better than the new ones 99+ but if you dont want to have to modify anything besides the downtubes 96-97 ones i guess that prolly all u will need

I do plan on redoing the entire exhaust system. Ordering some pipes from Summitt in a week or so. Anyhow, so there is no difference in the manifolds of a 91 as to a 94? If this is correct, I'll go with the stang headers. My plan is to run headers , hi flo cats, Y-pipe, and maybe a muffler. I'll have the exhaust run oout the side before the rear tire. I recall seeing a 94+ stang at the yard. I'll make my way there tomorrow. Thanks.

will the 96-97 3.8l factory headers fit on a 94 3.8l with the stock down pipe o2 sensors and egr tube are they a direct bolt in

Roy, I believe there are differences between 89-21 and 92+ headers but not absolutely sure. a guy here in Iowa had trouble putting 94 manifolds on his car I think not sure though.

m94ford, you'll need the egr tube from a 96-97 3.8L and will also need a custom downtube for the driver side to be made at an exhaust shop.

Id just delete the egr easy to do plug for the upper egr and a cap for the exhaust manifold both available at menards same section too .

94 SC with Built 4r70W and 408W
