Ok

First Thing, Do you have power brakes? How do your brakes feel when you step on them? If you have power brakes...you may have a vaccuum leak in your power brake booster....Check it out.

Since you seem to be having similar issues to MO_XR7, try the following thread discussion related to the DPFE. Read the whole thing.

DPFE thread.

Check it out.

It is part of your EGR system. In very brief terms, it provides added feedback on vacuum to the EEC. It's kind of a check on the EGR. I have one on my 92 and you should as well. The best description is in the thread. I'd just be repeating it in different words.

A more complex description is here . It contains a drawing which helps visualise what it does.

If I have a pic of it somewhere, I'll post for you.

I think that what was meant was EGR. Typo maybe?

Here's some pics straight from Haynes. Lovely book. I was just admiring my PFE today as a matter of fact.

Edit: Oops, yeah it is accessed from the top, close to the TB and EGR.

The EGR solenoid is on the firewall. When you are looking into the engine bay from the front, it is almost to the far left end of the firewall, further left than the PFE and has a small circular top. that's the best that I can describe. It has wires running from it to the wiring harness to the left of it. Does that help?

Not a problem. It takes a command from the computer to regulate the vacuum flow in the EGR. With all this solenoid/valve/transducer/sensor bs, you can see how it can get a little confusing to diagnose. If you think about it all logically and how each component works together, then you can start to se how one thing failing can cause certain problem(s).

Sorry, the solenoid is kind of a vertical cylinder to the left on the firewall, maybe 6inches or so from the EGR. I can't actually measure it just now. Just have a check of the firewall.

Appears that way, huh. Too bad no-one suggested that one earlier. Try picking up a used one. I know you're cheap.

Good luck and let us know if that was it. Remember to disconnect the neg battery cable when you replace it.

You appear to be attracted to them.

You've sure got a helluva strange shaped head and need some gym time too.

Edit: Actually pretty funny. You should put a big s**t-eating grin on him.

The DPFE is the same as the PFE, just with no D.
Is that what you are asking?

im just confused cause my DPFE or PFE...whatever you call it....its a little gray square looking thing that has one plug and one vacuum line that comes out the bottom of it that connects to the pipe that screws/goes into the side of my EGR valve...

so why does my DPFE/PFE look different from the one in that other thread/post you told me to read??

thanks alot man

Ya got me, they could vary from year to year. Some may be balck, some grey. Mine is grey and is otherwise exactly the same as the pic in my post above.
