exhaust leaks can sometimes make a noise like repetative wooshing air. Could your exhaust possibly have slipped off slightly from the headers or something from when you gutted the cats? Since its pretty cold out this time of year you can try starting your car at night and shining a flashlight at the header flange and you might see exhaust gas drifting up from there.

its a posabilty, but i dont think it really got any louder then it has after gutting the cats it changed the sound of the exaust ,mad the exaust louder and more of a hollow sound but i expected that.Talked to my father last night as well and he thought maybe a burnt valve

Did this start as soon as you gutted the cats or did it just start now a month later?

take a towel (or two if you have duals) and place it over your exhaust tips, plugging them completely. If you have an exhaust leak the car will still run and you will hear where the leak is. And if it's all fine and dandy the car will die.

well i just got it to my dad's about an hour ago (he has the tools and a garage) and we put his code reader on it and this is what we got in this order : code 53,95,42. code 53 says the throttle position sensor signal voltage is to high, we happen to have one in the garage so we will replace that.Code 95 says theres a thermactor air system problem right side air flow always upstream( that side cat was pluged) or fuel pump monitor signal indicates circit problem.last code 41 is exaaust gas oxygen sensor voltage signal always lean does not switch.

when i started it up this morning i looked under the car and i did see some exaust leak out from the drivers side cat, nothing severer just a couple pin hole like leakes.

and yes it just started a few days ago, about a month after i gutted the cats
thanks guys for all the help
