MAC Performance

I was on their site and saw that they advertise their CAI kit as making about 10-15hp. Is that possible? I didn't think a CAI could make that kind of power, and if it can, what about all the people that have the homemade ones. Has anybody dynoed their car with a manufactured kit versus the homemade kind.

10-15, no way. companies like these always overrate their hp gains.

Well I had a 12% increase in speed (in ~ the 1/4) when I dropped the K&N in, but my old filter was not brand new.

If all else fails get a bigger hammer!

assuming a 20% powertrain loss through the drivetrain, they're claiming 9.6-12rwhp? No, that's not possible. It does increase throttle response and you gain a little top end, but not nearly that much. Back in the days of my noobiness I bought the K&N fipk and it was coo but not for 110 dollars. Then I made my own intake tube and put the filter in the fender with a 70mm MAF housing. I'll be offering that intake tube and MAF housing for sale eventually if anyone wants it. Proven 12-15hp
