shifter handle

Anyone ever change a shifter handle on a 94 LX automatic with OD?
How do you remove the handle, my button broke off. How difficult is it?
Thanks..........

Find the hole/slot in the front and slide a flat head screwdriver in the slot. Basiclly all that is holding it in place is a big staple, use the srewdriver to pry it out of there and pull knob off--watch for parts to fall.
To reinstall I find it best to use a visegrip to clamp the "staple", for it boes a bit at the ends, while you reinsert.

If all else fails get a bigger hammer!

Thanks Bowez,
another question, Do you know how to replace the button on the handle? They sell the button at the Ford dealer but they wouldn't give me the specifics on installing.
Thanks

If you've already bought the button, I cant help you.

But it might be easier to go to a junkyard and get a handle complete with the button.
