extra (?) connector near the firewall *now with pics* please help

I have a 94 3.8 tbird LX that I bought with blown headgaskets. I replaced the hg and it is running OK but I am getting MAF and EGR codes. There is a round connector near the firewall that is not connected to anything. Is this supposed to be connected somewhere?
thanks

can you take some pictures of the plug and the area it is in?

yeah, I will post a pic. It's being painted now, I should have it back Wednesday or Thursday. I should have said it's on the passenger side near the firewall/ near where the injector harness connects.
thanks

How much did you pay for the car and how much did it cost for you to fix it?

Just wondering cause I just got a 93 that's said to have a blown head gasket.

if you do it yourself the headgaskets only cost 100-150 plus getting the heads resurfaced if necessary.

there is a coolant temp sensor on the back of the upper intake that it could plug in to, or the oxygen sensor, or something else, hard to say without seeing what the harness looks like.

I spent roughly 200$ to do mine..... and that included a few new tools But I didn't resurface the heads.

That does kind of sound like the O2 sensor plug (they're round). Hard to say without pics.

I paid $500 for the car, plus about $200 in parts, fluids, chemicals, bolts, gaskets, etc. including stuff like the thermostat and radiator hoses while I had everything apart.

I don't have the car back yet to take the pic, but I am pretty sure that the connector would not reach down to the O2 sensor. It's right in between the firewall and fenderwell on the passenger side. Plus wouldn't I be getting a code for the O2 sensor if it wasn't attached?

True, that was the only round connector I can recall in that area... Get us a picture if you can. I may have to go take a look at my car and see if I can find something like that.

I finally was able to pick up the car from being painted yesterday.

Here is the connector. The harness on it is a bit longer than I had remembered.

There are 8 wires in it--
Black w/yellow stripe
tan w/green
tan w/red
gray (solid)
blue w/red
green w/red
brown w/white
blue (solid)

I'm getting a MAF and 2 EGR codes that may or may not be related, but I just want to make sure everything is hooked up before I go swapping out parts.
I was kind of hoping that someone with a year that would be the same could look on their car and see if it's connected to anything...

Thanks!

looks like a oxygen sensor harness to me. Mine has only four pins, but then I only have to 02's on my 93.

There are only 2 oxygen sensors on this car and they are both connected to smaller 4-pin connectors.

Taylor I think I found where it goes. Its connects to another connector on the passenger side firewall. Its right at the top. There is a square connector with like 12-16 wires that it goes above, you cant miss it. Hope this is what you are looking for!!

It runs to the center of the motor under the intake plentium, and it also branches off at that point running into the firewall in the same area.

Anyone else have any suggestions?
I can't find the other end. I guess I'll have to wait until Saturday until I can take the intake off.

OK the wire that mn1293 was talking about is already connected. The connector is similar but the tabs are just clocked at different configurations.

I got a MAF and a DPFE from the junkyard and my codes are gone. The car runs fine so I bet that that connector truly is extra, like the 2 extras for the DIS coil pack and the cam position sensor. (Those are on there for California models which do use DIS).

for what it's worth, I got the DPFE from a v6 SHO. I don't know what year. The part number and connector were the same though. Most of the other fords had a different DPFE with an oval instead of squared off connector.

if your still throwing MAF codes try cleaning it. but do it carefully. i think theres a tech article on tccoa.com. i did it on mine after i put a new intake man. and throttle body on it, and man does it make a difference

Thanks but I had already tried cleaning the one originally on the car. With it cleaned, the car threw the code. As I said above, with the JY MAF and DPFE all codes are gone.
