Question about newer engines in 91 T-bird

I've gone through hell trying to find a good engine for my T-bird (91 3.8 auto). SOmeone posted in other threads that a newer engines would work.

Can someone explain what I need to use to get a 96+ block in a 91 T-bird. Basically I had really bad heads (started to melt) and felt the block was bad so wanted to get a new engine block and heads.

All I need is a block, internals, and heads (no conversions please). I have everything else that I could switch over from my motor ie alternator, PS pump,, brackets, manifolds, intakes, TB, etc. What years and from what cars would work for this?

Any RWD car, up to 98.

It's not a 97 Sport, it just looks like one!

Joe, I think the cincy t-bird is looking for a more detailed answer. As far as I know, a 96 block will bolt in, but I believe the 96 has DIS ignition whereas the 91 has a distributor. I'm not sure if the 96 can be retrofitted for a distributor or how much cincy has to change. I'm sure the 91 computer would have to be changed out for the DIS.

The Parts Bin Special is DEAD! It is being parted out.
