Rough Idle and High-Pitched Pulley/Belt Whine

Hey everyone, long time no post. Sorry its been a while since I have been on here. I have two issues that may be related, I really don't know whether they are or not though. My first issue is actually a problem with rough idle and stalling. I have already searched this and the threads that came up didn't quite match my problem. Usually it does this on a warm startup, but it has done it when the car has been sitting overnight too. It will start and then the rpm's will drop down to 500 or below, sometimes almost stalling, and they will go back and forth between around 600 to almost stalling. The first time it did this, after a couple of restarts, it finally stalled and triggered a check engine light. I searched on here, which brought me to the conclusion that it could be my IAC. I cleaned the IAC and checked for any vacuum leaks along the intake that could throw off the IAC, and I reset the computer to clear the CEL. It seemed to work for a while (this was on this past Saturday), but the next day it started doing it again. It actually stalled today, but I have yet to get another CEL. I am almost hoping it gives me another CEL so I can go get the code scanned.
The next issue might be tied into this somehow, I don't really know. My belt was squealing rather badly, so I got some belt dressing and some white lithium grease. The squealing would usually take place at or under 1,500 rpms, however it would occur infrequently and randomly at 2,000 to 2,500 rpms. I put the grease on the pulley spindles and then started the car to let it idle while I put the belt dressing on, per the dressing instructions. At first both things got rid of the squealing, but one thing I immediately noticed was a really high-pitched whine from the belt/pulleys that wasn't there before. Sure, there was always the standard whine from them and the fact that I have no intake silencer, but this whine was easily louder and more high-pitched. The wierd whine is still there, plus my belt/pulleys are squealing again, and in the same rpm ranges. The key thing is, though, that I didn't have the idleing problems until after I put the belt dressing and grease on. It may be sheer coincidence, or it really may be related, I honestly don't know. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you all.

for the first problem, check the position of your throttle cable. have a buddy depress the gas pedel all the way while the engine is off. check to see if there is slack at the throttle body. if there is, you need to tighten it. next, replace your throttle position sensor. just do it. third, clean your throttle body with some carb cleaner. see if that helps.

second problem, check the fluid in your power steering pump. it may be low. check the weeping hole from your water pump. check the level of freon in your A/C system. chances are its not your belt. but one of your accesories. you'll see anti-freeze coming from your weep hole on your water pump. you can put a gauge up to the antifreeze filling nipple to check that. and you can see if you are low on power steering fluid.

hope that helps
