93 question

i have a 93 3.8...totaly stock...nothing done to it exept the silencer removed.

first question is what the rear end ratio is. if i throw the 3.27 i got from my 97...would it be worth it? would it decrease my mpg that much?

also, if i forget about the rear end, since its a sure factor it might decrease my mpg, what can i do to get some more mpgs out of it. it get about 20-22 right now.

also about exhaust. it is all stock. cant i get rid of the mid resonator. what would that sound like?

if u guys have any ideas on anything, let me know

leart, check the door jamb sticker under AX, then refer to the tech articles. a 3.27 pumpkin should not have an effect on your gas mileage. may not be worth it, unless it has trac lok.

more mileage? do a tuneup, and get the lead out of your right foot.

for exhaust, get rid of the resonator and everything behind it. put a single glasspack (summit, $17) in place of it and run 2.25" piping split to duals at the pumpkin. i did this, sounds great.

hey now....lets not go to the imports...lol

as far as the pumpkin...i know for a fact its lowe than a 3...but ill look into it...

i also heard that rockers for these cars up the mpg but thats cash...

as far as exhaust...i might cut the resonator, but i dont think i should spend any more money on it. i think its about to fall appart.

You shouldnt have to swap gears because your 93 has 3.27's allready.

He may have a 3.08 in the car. 96-97 had only 3.27.

It's not a 97 Sport, it just looks like one!

its possible he has 3.08s. the door jamb sticker will tell him for sure. if his pumpkin has trac lok, that would be a nice upgrade. and he would be swapping pumpkins, not the gears themselves

yeah, i like my open diff. too. i'd be willing to bet you got 3.27's in that 97 diff. anyways, if you DO swap the diffs. make sure you replace those snap rings on ends of the drive axels. those are important. also, depending on the quality of the diff you may have replace the bearings. which if you dont know what your doing, give it to someone who does. and this happened to me, but didnt happen to big mike. you may have to get your driveshaft rebalanced. mine somehow got all out of whack.

leart, in this case, swapping pumpkins would be pointless with no trac lok. chances are your 3.8 doesnt have trac lok. its a very rare option.

good advice, steve.
